Skip Lotten’s life story reads like a folk song—woven with music, poetry, hard work, and a relentless spirit of adventure. A singer, songwriter, poet, and musician, Skip has spent decades sharing his voice and his heart with audiences across the country.

His musical journey includes iconic milestones that many only dream of. He has graced the legendary stage of the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tennessee, and achieved a bucket-list honor: singing a verse on the Grand Ole Opry via WSM Radio at Opryland. Whether warming up the crowd at Yakov Smirnoff’s theater in Branson, Missouri, or appearing as the musical guest at the historic Gillioz Theatre for The Mystery Hour with Doug Pitt, Skip’s performances are grounded in authenticity. (He also famously kept the peace in Branson as a security guard for the legendary Glen Campbell).

But Skip’s story isn’t just told on stage. He has dedicated his life to service, craft, and community—working as a high school English teacher in Michigan, a compassionate caseworker for the Indiana Welfare Department, and a skilled carpenter and homebuilder who knows the value of working with his hands. And while he may confess to being a “somewhat incompetent” contra dancer, his rhythm is perfectly aligned with the things that matter most.
